Bist du schwul, oder was? (in German)

Fiction book by Frank G. Pohl

"Fag" and "queer" are some of the insults that can be heard
today in any schoolyard. On the other hand, there is the gay-quota filled in the casting of every modern sitcom. In the midst of this confusion are children and teenagers questioning their emotional life and need to discover their sexuality: "What if I'm gay?", "Can I talk about it with my best friend?", "Would my parents be upset?" -These are the topics that the novel "Bist du Schwul oder was?" deals
with. The main character in the book is Basti. He is a rapper and he is admired by his classmates for his style. One day he gets mad when one of his classmates calls him "Fag!". Basti is not gay! But why can´t he get it out of his head?
He finds Julia cool, but does it mean he does not pay attention to
boys? It is not that simple when it comes to love, concludes
Basti. Ferhat, his best friend, knows it too.

Frank G. Pohl´s book can help young people to have a critical view of socially established ideas related to homosexuality, both in the past and in the present, which can help them in forming their own point of view. The material was released as an index to the novel, but can be consulted independently. Several didactic questions are answered in the book, for example why teachers should bring up homosexuality in class and which aspects should be considered while doing it?
